VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

REGIONAL MARITIME UNIVERSITY, ACCRA-GHANA

The Regional Maritime University, a Maritime institution comprising five West African States, invites applications from suitably qualified and interested nationals of the Republics of Cameroon, The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone to be appointed to the position of DEPUTY RECTOR at the University in Accra, Ghana.

The appointment is for an initial period of five [5] years which may be extended for an additional two [2] year period.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the Rector in the general administration of the University
• Deputise in the absence of the Rector
• Supervise and coordinate the various sectors of the University
• Prepare plans for medium and long term projects, programmes and initiatives
• Assist in collaboration/networking with other institutions
• Assist in resource mobilization and the prudent management of the approved annual budget and other resources
• Perform other duties assigned by the Board of Governors and the Rector

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Masters Degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field; a PhD degree would be an advantage
• Minimum of twelve [12] years post-qualification working experience
• Work experience in a tertiary institution especially in maritime education and training would be an advantage
• Minimum of six [6] years Senior Management level experience
• A good knowledge of administrative systems and procedures
• Proven ability to work in a culturally diverse context, especially supervising senior staff of different nationalities
• A very strong interpersonal communication and diplomatic skills
• Proven record in resource mobilization
• High level of maturity, willingness and experience for leading a management team
